The violence in Syria is getting worse, as President Bashar al-Assad (whose neck really is freakishly long) fights more and more ruthlessly to hold on to power. What began as massive street protests is now looking more like a civil war. Some are even calling for a Libya-style international intervention in the conflict, though that may be not be such a good idea.
Whatever comes of this, the question remains: Has any other neck in history begged louder for the guillotine?
